National Rally Day - May 15, 2010
Edmonton
Alberta Legislative Grounds
9 am to 3:30 pm

National Rally Day - Edmonton

Event Information

We are very excited that the Guiding members in your group are going to be some of the

2100 members at this Rally. Given the size of our rally, we ask that you read this letter carefully and work with the organising committee and the other units to make this rally run smoothly

This letter has important information that pertains to the Edmonton Rally location at the Alberta Legislative Grounds. A site map is attached. It will note all the important places you need to know where they are. First aid, bathrooms, program areas, etc.

Transporting to the Legislative Grounds:

Edmonton Transit

is allowing UNIFORMED members to ride free only on the LRT. (Does not include non uniform Guiding clothing) All parents and adult helpers, siblings, etc are required to pay fares. Groups using the regular Edmonton Transit buses are

required to pay fares. Edmonton Transit is putting extra cars on the train in anticipation of our numbers. Please be patient. There will be lots of room.

You need to get off at the “GRANDIN STATION”. There is a Transit Centre as well for those using the bus on 107 Street / 98 Avenue.

Charter / Yellow Bus Drop Off and Parking

has been arranged at the site. Please share the attached map with your bus driver. We have two locations for drop off. One for buses that will only be dropping off and then coming back to pick up; and a second location for buses to park for the day. Please use these two drop off points as planned.

For easy finding of your bus at the end of the day, we are suggesting that your group create a sign which could be put in the window of your bus for easy identification. Could be a cartoon character/phrase/name of Division.

There is no personal parking

. Only the charter/yellow buses may park in the areas we have allocated.

Check In at 9 am

Registering your group on site:

Begins at 9 am.

All groups are asked to

arrive as a group on site. NO Children should be dropped off

unattended.

It is also the responsibility of the Group leader to meet girls joining the rally at a later

time.

Check In to the main tent in your colored pod. Use the attached map to locate your pod. You will

receive your group’s information package which will include name tags, schedules, and more!

There has been an addition for our Service Project. In addition to food bank donations,

Personal Care products are also being requested.

Donations can be dropped off first thing in the morning at your registration tent. We will be

preparing Personal Kits for the homeless and needy in Edmonton. Please ask your girls to

participate in this project by bringing the items that are assigned to your Branch. You may collect

these as a group or ask your girls / adults to bring 3 or 4 of the following.

Branch Personal Care Items

Sparks Travel size hand soaps

Brownies Travel size toothpaste and tooth brushes

Guides Travel size shampoo and hand lotions

Pathfinders / Rangers Granola bars

You may find there may be some time between registering, handing out nametags, etc and when the Opening Ceremonies begin. Be prepared to play some simple games with your girls while you patiently wait for other groups to register.

If any adults or girls have

mobility issues, please inform us so we can address this concern and make it convenient for participating in this event. Email myklaura@telus.net with your concern. Image Release Please ensure all adults and girls attending have completed an image release. Adult helpers as well.
