Welcome to Gofer Express!!

This is a bi-weekly information update for all adult members in Edmonton who have an email address in iMIS. If you know Guiders who do not have email access, please pass this information along.

HIKE FOR PLENTY - DATE CHANGE

Next year’s Hike for Plenty date had previously been communicated as Saturday, March 23rd, 2019.  We have changed it to Saturday, April 6th, 2019 to avoid the first weekend of Spring Break for Edmonton Public and Catholic School Boards.  It was felt that holding the event during Spring Break could negatively impact our overall success of this key service project with the Edmonton Food Bank.  Please make this date change on your yearly calendars.  Thank you for your support of this change.

EDMONTON AREA CREST DESIGN CONTEST

Crests are a huge part of Guiding life.  We mark major events and adventures with a crest which is then sewn onto a camp blanket or poncho forever reminding us of the places we’ve been, accomplishments we have achieved, and friendships we created on the way.  The Edmonton Area crest needs a refresh and we are extending the opportunity to all girl members from Sparks to Rangers to submit their ideas for a new crest!.  Click here for the official form and please submit to Hazel by December 1, 2018.  We encourage members to share their design on social media and use the hashtags #newareacrest #ggcyeg.

PATHFINDER/RANGER FRIENDSHIP CAMP

We are still looking for a Responsible Guider to take the lead on the Pathfinder/Ranger friendship camp being held March 1-3rd, 2019.  There are some Guiders who are willing to help but without a RG, this camp will not move forward.  Please consider this opportunity and email Courtney if you are interested.

COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS

A friendly reminder to Unit Guiders to ensure parents in your unit know how to communicate with you including your real name and email/phone number.  Edmonton Area office is receiving a surprising number of emails and calls from parents who do not know the name of their daughter’s leaders, only that they are Diamond or Brown Owl.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.
